How to make a video collage for your Instagram Story
By Storyvids · Updated
A video collage puts several clips and photos on screen at once. Storyvids lays them out in a 9:16 grid, so the collage fills a Story with no black bars.
Everything runs in your browser, and your files stay on your device.
Steps
- 01
Choose a layout for your clips
Count your best moments. Two or three clips work in rows or columns, four in the 2 × 2 grid and six in the 2 × 3 grid. For one main clip with details, pick one big, three below.
- 02
Mix photos and videos
Each cell takes a photo or a video. A still photo next to moving clips gives the eye a place to rest.
- 03
Frame the important part
Each cell crops its clip to fit. Drag to keep faces and action inside the cell, and zoom in where a clip has empty space.
- 04
Export the collage
Tap the check mark and download an MP4 at 1080p, 1440p or 4K, at 30 or 60 fps. If every cell is a photo, you get a JPEG instead.
Put the best clip in the biggest cell
The eye goes to the largest cell first, then to the top left. Put the clip that tells the story there.
Keep clip lengths close
The collage runs as long as the longest clip, and shorter clips loop. Clips of a similar length loop less often and look calmer.
Choose clips for their sound
Every clip’s sound is mixed into the export. If one clip has wind or noise, use a photo in that cell or a quieter take.
