Three videos in one Instagram Story

Storyvids has three ways to fit three videos in one story. Three rows give every clip the same wide strip. The other two give one clip a large cell and set two smaller clips next to it.

3 layouts · 3 cells · 9:16

Three rows: three wide strips

Each row is 1080 × 640 at 1080p, close to the 16:9 shape of a video filmed sideways. A landscape clip keeps 95% of its width, more than in any other layout.

Portrait clips lose the most here: only the middle third of their height shows. Put an upright clip in a row only when the action sits in the center, like a face in a close-up.

Good for

  • Three landscape clips without heavy cropping
  • Three steps: before, during and after
  • Three highlights from one game or show

One on top, two below

The top cell spans the full width at 1080 × 960. The two cells below are 540 × 960 each, exactly 9:16, so portrait clips fill them with no cropping.

Put the wide shot on top, where the eye lands first, and two upright close-ups below. The top cell sets the scene and the pair below shows the details.

Good for

  • A wide scene with two close-ups
  • A finished dish on top, two steps below
  • An event with two guests below

One on the left, two on the right

The left cell is a tall strip of 540 × 1920 that runs the full height of the story. The right column holds two cells of 540 × 960, each exactly 9:16.

The tall cell fits a person filmed upright while standing or walking. Use it for the main shot and put two details on the right: the shoes and the bag, or two stops along the walk.

Good for

  • A full-length outfit with two details
  • A walk next to two stops along the way
  • A main clip with two reactions

Tips

Which of the three to pick

Count your sideways clips. Three of them go in three rows. One goes in the top cell of one on top, two below. When all three clips are upright, pick a layout with one big cell: two of its three cells are exactly 9:16.

Clips of different lengths

The story lasts as long as the longest of the three clips, and the shorter ones loop. A 3-second clip next to a 15-second one plays five times. Pick clips of a similar length, or use a photo for the short one.

How to make it
